I promise to NEVER AGAIN say anything shitty about you. Ever.
Not even if there's a fire.
While the rest of the country is dealing with horrific weather and freezing temps, you've kept me safe and warm. Given me sunny days and clear skies. You've even done the dishes after dinner.
I have been a historical fiction fan for years and am always on the lookout and the hunt for good ones.
Just recently I read the Josephine B. trilogy by Sandra Gulland and just loved them. I cried at the end of the third. What a sad but strong love Josephine and Napoleon had!
Right now I am reading Pope Joan by Donna Woolfolk Cross. It tells the story of a girl named Joan who grew up in the 800s between France (Frankland) and Rome. She pretended to be a boy and then a man because women were not allowed to be scholars, or indeed anything other than wives and childbearers. The book tells how she grew from child to woman (man) and became Pope.
No one agrees on whether or not Pope Joan is fictional or not but the book is fascinating. Here is the wiki page on her if anyone cares to read up on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Joan
So tell me, what have you been reading lately? Anything that you just love?
Tomorrow the kids and I are going to go meet a foster dog in the hopes of him loving us so we can adopt him.
Cross your fingers for us. He is not a puppy (which we thought we'd wanted), he is not a golden retriever (which I knew I wanted), nor is he a lab (our second choice).
What he is, though, is Buddy. He's 6 years old. And he's a gorgeous gentle giant.
It expires on Sunday morning so check it out while you still can!
Here is the link for it, and from what I understand, the more unique clicks and views the treasury and each item in it gets, the better chance it has to make it to Etsy's front page!
